Art is such a simple term but it is difficult to define. To a child, art is drawing and coloring. For celebrities, art is acting and entertaining. For designers, art is trend and fashion. The definition of art can be very objective. Different sectors have their own definition of art. They have various standards too. For a mother, the drawings of her children are works of art. For museums, art is the genuine creation of a significant artist in the past.
Art is the natural manifestation of human feelings and passion. It is the medium to vent out your expressions. Art is very diverse and varied in nature. Go down exploring it there is a fear that you might get lost in it.
So what is “art,” and what is an “artist?” My first thoughts. Art is something which registers in the mind of the beholder as being exemplary of beauty, truth, and reality. Something which communicates some particular quality, or qualities, of “reality,” in the truest sense of the word “reality.” By this definition, Monet’s impressions and Pollack’s dribblings both easily qualify, even though neither attempts to offer photo graphic realities. As do Twain’s description of Huck’s father in an alcoholic blackout, and Hemingway’s metaphor of the hill in war torn Spain shaped like a young girl’s breast.
Art is pillared on two fundamentals, form and content. ‘Form’ is classified as:
* Elements of Art
* Principles of design
* Physical materials
Artistic content is a slightly tricky subject matter. Creative content is an idea-based concept, for example:
* The theme the artist intends to portray
* The theme of the actual portrayal
* Audience’s response to the piece of work
* Miscellaneous influences, such as religion, politics, society, culture, or your own imagination, add meaning to the content of any artwork.
